B&CMA 84th Annual Technical Conference

The Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturers’ Association held its 2009 Technical Conference Racing to the Future at the Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord. Over 300 members from 14 different countries attended the program of keynote speakers, educational sessions and networking events.

The General Session featured David Singer, President and CEO of Lance Inc. delivering The State of the Industry address, followed by keynote speaker Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina providing a legislative update.  Breakout sessions shed light on the latest industry challenges with topics such as sanitary design, SQF certification, uniform nutritional labeling, bake ovens and baking bands, cracker processes and cracker processing technology, acrylamide, and trans fats. Our popular Ask the Expert panels covered production and transfer of knowledge within organizations. Additionally, several networking events were available to participants such as a golf outing, a motorsports and botanical gardens tour, the Opening Reception, a dinner and Pace Car rides at Lowes’ Motor Speedway in collaboration with Snack Food Association (SFA), and a lively Table Top Exhibition showcasing the latest products and services of B&CMA Allied Member companies. The Conference concluded with a bakery tour of Lance Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina.

B&CMA would like to thank the speakers, sponsors, committee members and participants that made this year’s Technical Conference a success.  We would also like to thank Snack Food Association for collaborating on our joint events. Looking ahead, the 85th Technical Conference will be held October 17 – 20, 2010 in Birmingham, AL with a tour of Bud’s Best Cookies, Inc.
