The Origin
of B&CMA
On November 11, 1901, The Biscuit and Cracker Manufacturers' Association was established in Cincinnati, Ohio. This was the era of the nostalgic cracker barrel so aptly characterized by B&CMA's "BISCUIT BOY" trademark.
With the growth of regional bakeries, along with brand identification, the industry developed steadily. The emergence of this new baking industry also was reflected in a vigorous and rapid growth of the Association. Since the beginning, the B&CMA has sought to serve the interests of the biscuit and cracker industry through combined membership efforts. This has been accomplished by working in the areas of education and government liaison where pooled resources can be more effective than individual efforts. Over the years, the B&CMA has become the leading cookie and cracker baking association, providing important advantages for our membership and significant contributions to this multibillion dollar industry.
